the sustainability champions

When we asked a wide mix of Tanzanians to name a single female athlete from their country, no one could! Without role models to support, there’s no media coverage. Without media coverage, there’s no investment. And without investment, there’s no development.

At present, Tanzania ranks 46th out of 47 registered nations in world netball. Just across Lake Victoria, our neighbour Uganda stands proudly in 6th place. This contrast shows the enormous opportunity waiting to be seized.

By building a world-class facility and bringing in top professional coaches, Tanzania has the chance to make rapid progress. Within a decade, we believe the senior national team could rise into the world’s elite, competing at championships and producing players who sign professional contracts in leading leagues. As national television begins to follow these leagues, investment will grow, and more girls will be encouraged to play.

Right now, sporting opportunities for girls in Tanzania are extremely limited. Netball is officially played nationwide, but schools often lack even the most basic equipment. A dedicated facility and access to the best international coaches could transform this picture. A Tent With A View is determined to drive this ambitious goal forward.

Not every girl from the academy will become a professional player. But many will achieve national honours, while all will benefit from a high-quality education, excellent healthcare, the diet of a top athlete, and strong language skills. They will also learn about sustainability and step into the world as confident, capable global citizens.
